If you have access to Amazon Prime, this series is available for streaming.
I just stumbled upon this and can't say how long it will be around on Amazon. |

I made notice of the run times for the episodes on Amazon and the episodes must be the same ones from the complete series DVD issued by VEI because the majority of them are the edited for syndication versions that are trimmed down to 46 minutes.
I have the DVD set, the set with 45 discs. The 1st season has unedited episodes, the 2nd season has about half unedited episodes and the other half are edited. From season 3 and forward the vast majority of episodes are the syndicated/edited 46 minute versions. Amazon has the same thing. I don't know what went wrong when the complete series DVD went into production, but I suspect that all the episodes do indeed exist in unedited form, and a major screw up occurred which resulted in the DVD set having mostly edited for syndication versions of the episodes, and no one at CBS or VEI bothered or cared to notice. Whatever happened, it's just a damn shame that we ended up with such a mess of a DVD set for this great detective series from the 1970's. It's better than having nothing but that's about it. |
