The Beatles founded their Apple Records company that sold a lot of merchandise. Then there is the Apple tech company Steve Jobs made famous. Was Apple Records obsolete by then? You would think the surviving Beatles would have trademark issues with Apple tech using the same name.

By the late 70's, Apple Records was pretty much a defunct company, with its Beatles (group) recordings re-released on Capitol Records. I think their McCartney and Lennon solo stuff was also released in the late 70's on Capitol- not so sure about the solo stuff of the other two at that time. Non-Beatles artists like Badfinger and Mary Hopkin do not seem to have been reissued in the late 70's on Capitol- I think their LPs/CDs were quite hard to find (and expensive) for several years.

There actually were numerous legal disputes between Apple Corps. (which owns Apple Records) and Apple Inc. between 1978-2006.
