$300,000 is lots of money today. In 1984 just imagine how much that was. Do you think Richard was honest with not going on Threes A Crowd? I know actors like new characters but go with where the money is. There has to be a part of him today that regrets not going with Threes A Crowd.

What TC did to Joyce was horrendous. They kept the spinoff a secret. She found out because one day off she went to the set and discovered them shooting. It was only halfway through season 8. It was very hard on Joyce to continue for half a season how bad they treated her and kept everything a secret. Its not so much what they did but how they did it.

Richard Kline probably felt the Three's a Crowd show wouldn't last long especially how the producers handled it. So he figured $30,000 an episode for a short time or go for huge money and a chance to star in a show for a long time (maybe years).

He gambled and lost... I don't think I would be able to turn down guaranteed money.

I kind of feel sorry for Joyce. Chris Mann mentioned she was crying when she was talking about how it all went down.

I don't understand what the book is saying about Miss Winslow and Son never materializing because there was a series with that same name and described premise that ran on CBS for a few weeks in 1979.

"never materializing" is a strange thing to say. I wonder if somebody else went forward with the concept and went to CBS instead of ABC.

The show only lasted 6 episodes, so it must have been terrible.

Richard Kline had bad luck with sitcoms after Three's Company. He did a sitcom called "Noah Knows Best" in 2000 and that only lasted 8 episodes before it was cancelled.

It's a shame because he was so funny and talented.

Really sad how Joyce became ignored, after all those years of being a crucial and vital part of TC, so unconscionable. And she had kept herself in perfect shape, a beautiful lady!

Thanks for all the info posted here.

I did enjoy the Burger King commercial. Seeing a young Patrick Swayze was a surprise.
