Everybody Hates Chris was originally developed for the Fox network until it was passed over and was then put on UPN. But what if Fox kept the show and it began airing in 2005? What time in the schedule would it come on? Would it run longer than 4 seasons? Would we get crossovers and/or a spin-off?

Fox reportedly passed on it because they didn't think Chris Rock would be very involved with it past the pilot. He may not have been the narrator or as involved as an executive producer.
It probably would have aired after fellow single-camera sitcom The Bernie Mac Show on Friday nights at 8:30pm. I'm not sure if they could have done any crossover episodes since it was set in the 1980s. I don't think it would have lasted beyond the first season. It would have been low rated but a critical favorite like it was on UPN/The CW. Fox brought back only two non-animated sitcoms for the 2006-2007 season. The CW may have picked it up for 2006-2007 since they needed programming. I don't think it would have lasted more than four seasons on any network. Chris Rock wanted to end it then. It was a blessing in disguise for them that Fox passed on the show. They got four seasons and the upcoming animated reboot Everybody Still Hates Chris. |
