This weekend (7/1&2/23) we have Green Acres Binge on Catchy Comedy and Gilligan’s Island on Sundance TV. And if you want to watch fuller episodes with less commercials then stream most Green Acres episodes on Pluto and all episodes of Gilligan’s Island on Tubi.

I’ll post for what it’s worth.
I rediscovered Green Acres as an adult after many decades and saw it is a very inventive and cleaver comedy who did absurdity well. The writers were so brilliant that they made us truly think the pig was human. The series was just very well done. Gillian’s Island was to me garbage. Not a good show and a waste of the talents of all the actors on the show. To me, the show was a career killer to a lot of the actors on it. Sherwood Shwartz, how did this guy ever get the position he had? Man was a hack. Robert Reed was right about him on The Brady Bunch. That show could have been a lot more relevant about mixed families in that era, but unfortunately a hack was the boss. Reed gets a lot of negativity because he wanted better scripts and relevance. |
