Default What movie(s) had the best climax?

What movies had the best endings? Whether they surprised you, shocked you, scared you or just plain entertained you.

My picks are:

1. Scarface- The gun battle at the end was great.
2. The Blair Witch Project- That was a very creepy ending.
3. Halloween- Another creepy ending.
4. Unbreakable- Fantastic ending, never saw that coming!

The single best climax was the ending of Bridge on the River Kwai.

Other that I can think of offhand are:
The Wild Bunch
Star Wars: A New Hope
Jaws
King Kong
Unforgiven
The Silence of the Lambs
It's a Wonderful Life

The very instant I saw this post, those were the words that my brain exploded into. The part in the car ... when the boy told his mom that her dead mom told him that she loved her ... Youch. That got to me.

Thumbs down

No, no, no!! 'The Sixth Sense' was craaaaaaap!!!!
When it came out at first all my pals were saying "you gotta see this film - it has the best twist ever! You'll never see it coming!!"
I don't think so!! I guessed what was gonna happen after about 5 minutes. It was just so obvious.
Way overrated.

I think 'Angel Heart' has the best twist-ending ever. 'Mulholland Drive' has a pretty cool ending too (yes, I do actually understand what the movie is about).

Perhaps I should call an ambulance to take me to the psycho ward. Anyone as slow and as dimwitted as myself could be a danger to himself and society at large.

LOL Don't feel bad, a lot of people were surprised by the ending. I'm in the same boat as Mossopp, I saw the ending a mile away too. I think I saw it a mile away because people were telling me about such a shocking ending, you won't see it coming, etc, etc. So when I finally went to see it myself, I was expecting something to happen.

Remember, the first wave of people that saw the movie had no idea what to expect. nobody told them about the ending and how surprising it would be. Perhaps that's people Mossopp and myself saw it coming?!?

You know, I was teasing the all powerfull Mossopp, but you make a good point. When I went to see that movie, I knew nothing at all about it. I only went because I usually like Bruce Willis' movies. So maybe those who were told to expect something special and surprising, should get a handle on there arrogant "superior" intellect.

Well, I have to go now. There are three people in white coats standing in my doorway. If they provide computers at the insane asylum, I'll write back.

LOL

I'll have to say 'A Face in the Crowd' for this post. That had such a surprise ending.

I think "Signs" had the best climax. M. Night Shymalan outdid himself. It's better than "The Sixth Sense."

I hope you haven't left yet because you're not nuts. The Sixth Sense happens to be the 14th highest grossing movie of ALL TIME, so we're not alone (293 million dollars).
I went in knowing nothing about a surprise ending, and I was fooled....and so were a lot of my friends. Trust me Kitt, we're neither stupid or crazy.
