Kids "Wheel of Fortune" in the Works at Sony
Kids "Wheel of Fortune" in the Works at Sony (Exclusive)
by Rick Porter June 8, 2023 Sony is reaching into its vast catalog of TV properties to develop programming aimed at young viewers. The studio’s Sony Pictures Television — Kids (formerly known as Silvergate Media) is developing kid-centric versions of "Wheel of Fortune" and "Shark Tank". “There’s such a vast history at Sony Pictures Television with properties that we could play around with and reinvent, introducing a whole new generation of kids to them,” Joe D’Ambrosia, executive vp and general manager of SPT — Kids (and a member of The Hollywood Reporter’s 2023 Kids Entertainment Power List), told THR. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv...ny-1235509925/ |

Wasn't there already a kids version of Wheel Of Fortune that aired on CBS's Saturday Morning block in 1997? I remember it was called Wheel 2000 and was hosted by David Sidoni and it featured an animated cohost named Cyber Lucy who would turn the letters like Vanna White did and the wheel had a challenge wedge and The Creature wedge which was the Bankrupt wedge in Wheel 2000. I don't know how a kids version of Wheel Of Fortune would work for the second time. I think Sony will sell the pilot episode to Nickelodeon and as we saw Game Show Network do with Jeopardy with a kids edition called Jep I think this may be a smart idea because you don't really see game shows targeted at kids much on TV anymore. Then they would have to find the perfect host that kids will like and a cohost as letter turner unless they have a electronic letterboard but this sounds like a great idea

In this case, the long running meme “Wheel 2000 is NEW! NEW! NEW!” from other message boards may hold true. Let’s just hope they did h the “physical challenges” and Cyber Lucy.
