There's a good UK sitcom, Upstart Crow, that's 3 seasons. It's a satire on the life of Shakespeare, similar to Blackadder. Others would be Father Ted and The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin.

Edit: The Adam West Batman was nominated for Emmys in the comedy categories.

The only one I'm familiar with is No. 1 on the sitcom list. I don't think there would ever be a remake, at least not set in the 1970s. Somehow it just wasn't cool to be stupid anymore in the Thatcher-Reagan era.

Nor would I ever want a remake of it. Way too many remakes today of classics that shouldn't have been messed with at all such as Matlock (just the ads alone for it have been icky) and a TV-MA Perry Mason. I know you're on another continent, but you haven't heard of Gilligan's Island?

The Britcoms sound worth checking out, my PBS affiliate needs more variety.. I tried Batman when the Hub network was starting, it just didn't interest me.

No, but I haven't had a television for many years.
