Did you know one of Shirley MacLaine's early television roles was the 1971-1972 ABC sitcom Shirley's World? She played a photojournalist named Shirley Logan. It was filmed in England, Scotland, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and other locales.
Shirley You Can’t Be Serious: Visiting “Shirley’s World” You probably have watched Joe Namath's guest appearance on The Brady Bunch, but how many saw his short-lived 1978 NBC sitcom called The Waverly Wonders? Not many apparently. Only four episodes of Broadway Joe's sitcom were aired. He has made some other guest appearances, but he has never starred on another series. The Waverly Wonders TV Facts Celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse starred as himself in his own sitcom called Emeril on NBC in 2001. It premiered two weeks after 9/11. Only eight episodes were aired. Anyone Remember Chef Emeril Lagasse's Failed Sitcom "Emeril"? Can you think of any other unlikely sitcom stars who only starred on one or two sitcoms? |

Well, there's the former baseball pitcher Jim Bouton, who starred in the sitcom adaptation of his book Ball Four. He had very little acting experience.

Why anybody thought Emeril Lagasse starring in a sitcom (let alone acting at all) was a good idea I'll never understand!
Former baseball player Bob Uecker who was in the sitcom Mr. Belvedere, he played the husband George. But he could really act. But as far as I'm aware that's the only sitcom he ever did. I'm sure there are more people, but I can't think of any at the moment. Ed. |

Sports figures seem to be a popular pick in here. Let’s go with boxer George Foreman.
