What do you think of Schi Fi sitcoms? I am not talking about Bewitch, I Dream of Jeannie. I am talking about sitcoms that focused on an alian or robot. Shows like Lost in Space, My Favorite Martain, Alf, shows like that. I am not really a fan of these type of shows. I especially hate it when these shows try to address serious issues like drugs for example. Are we suppose to take these shows seriously? When I was a kid I watched some of the 80's Schi Fi sitcoms. Shows like Alf, Small Wonder, etc. But when I got older I didn't like them anymore.
Especially after I saw some of the classic 70's sitcoms. Shows like All in the Family, Good Times, Mary Tyler Moore Show, Bob Newhart Show, just to name a few. However there is one Schi Fi show I like and probably will still like years from now. And that show is 3rd Rock from the Sun. I like that show for the following reasons. An excellent cast, excellent writing, the aliens do not have any superpowers. I would like to hear your opinions on these types of shows. And tell us your favorite or the show you hate the most. |

I like some sci-fi shows my favorite would be ALF, I used to like Sabrina The Teenage Witch but ever since it left ABC I didn't want to watch it anymore.
I prefer more realistic sitcoms though over sci-fi sitcoms. |

Well there are only two alien type of sitcoms that I like still today and probably will forever. Those are Alf which isn't the funniest show but very creative. And of course 3rd Rock which is so hilariously funny.

Sorry I made a mistake on my original post. I meant to say I am not talking about Bewitch and I Dream of Jeannie. I have corrected it. Sorry Dr. Frasier Crane but Sabrina The Teenage Witch does not count. That is a Supernatural show not a Sci Fi show.

Yeah you are right. But when you are typing you make typos. Sorry, but enough about that. Lets get back to the topic at hand. Sci Fi sitcoms.

I would actually consider "Bewitched" and "I Dream of Jeannie" to be Sci-fi. It's fiction, and it kinda deals with scientific impossibilities. "Dark Shadows" is considered Sci-fi...

One really good one was "They Came From Outer Space," a syndicated sci-fi comedy that ran over a decade ago. It was about two borthers from a distant planet who travelled around the country and got into all sorts of trouble.
It was very hip, and very funny. |

The only scifi sitcom that I like was 'My Favorite Martian'. I don't have a least favorite.

What, no one likes Mork & Mindy?
I never pass up an opportunity to mention the 1978 Richard Benjamin show Quark, a show too witty for the average American TV viewer of the late 70s, who was apparently busy destroying brain cells watching the competition: Wonder Woman (a good show ruined in the move to CBS) and Donny & Marie. 22 years later I still hold a grudge against NBC cancelling it after 6 episodes. And then there's Red Dwarf, a british show broadcast by many PBS stations. If you want to count prime-time animated series: Futurama and The Jetsons. |
