What do you mean? It is not illegal to trade copies of tapes, you just can't sell copies for a profit. Trading is not a big deal. You have traded, so why are you saying it's illegal? Am I missing something?

If you mean it's illegal to trade copies of shows you bought from stores (online or not) than yeah, that's probably true, but where did you get the impression that this person bought these? Sure, they do sell them on DVD...

It is legal to sell tapes for a reasonable price... There was a Supreme Court case, in 1984, Universal vs. Someone, anyhoo, they said it is legal to sell tapes at a reasonable price, as long as all of the cost goes to maintenance...
