Default Facts of Life was the only spinoff to last longer than it's creator

Think about all the spinoffs that were created, even the sucessful ones, besides facts of life, none of them lasted longer than it's creator. Take a look below
at the spinoffs and how long they lasted

Different Strokes-8 years-Creator
Facts of Life-(9 years)-Spinoff

Happy Days-10 years-Creator
L&S-7 years-Spinoff

All in the Family-12 years-Creator
jeffersons-10 years,-SPinoff
Maude-6 years-spinoff

Facts of life is the only spinoff that stayed on the air longer than it parent show

The Facts of Life isn't the longest running spin-off:

The Tracey Ullman Show 1987-1990 (3 years)
The Simpsoms 1989-present (11 years)

Cheers- 1982-1993 (11 years)
Frasier 1993-present (9 years) (Ties with FOL)
(One of the longest running spin-off but It didn't beat its parent show)

That won't be true for long. Frasier I beleive is signed up until the 11 year so it will actually be tied with it's parent show. Both will have run for 11 years. Cause I doubt very much NBC will cancel Frasier.

The Simpsons were a short little cartoon that the Tracy Ulman show had. And they eventually decided to give the Simpsons their own show. So that was a spinoff.

I don't think the Tracy Ulman show was a spin off since it was one of the first shows Fox put on the air in 1987 when they first started out.

Actually, Knots Landing is a longer running spin-off. Beating its parent show, Dallas, by 1 season.

Dallas ran from April 1978- May 1991 (13 Seasons)

Knots Landing ran from December 1979- May 1993 (14 Seasons)

But only looking at sitcoms, FOL is probably the longest.

I meant to say:

The Tracey Ullman Show 1987-1990 (3 years)
The Simpsoms 1989-present (13 years)

The Simpsons beat The Tracy Ullman Show by 10 years.

Some of this information up above is totally untrue. First,
All in the Family- 9 years (1971-1979)
The Jeffersons- 11 years (1975-1985)

As you can see "The Jeffersons" ran longer than its parent show. Also, "All in the Family" produced 207 episodes while "The Jeffersons" produced 253 episodes. That should tell you something there right off the bat.

Then- there's The Simpsons which was the spin-off of The Tracey Ullam Show. 'Tracy' didn't last long, therefore, "The Simpsons" has ran longer than its parent show.

SO GUESS WHAT! "The Facts of Life" WASN'T the only spin-off that ran longer than it's parent show because obviously there is two more and possibly even more.

Default HERE'S ANOTHER ONE . . .

Here is ANOTHER SPIN-OFF THAT RAN LONGER THAN IT'S PARENT SHOW . . . Family Matters (1989-1998). It was a spin-off of Perfect Strangers (1986-1993) which ran 7 years. Family Matters ran 9 years.

I just proven my piont AGAIN: "Facts of Life" ISN'T THE ONLY SPIN-OFF THAT RAN LONGER THAN IT'S PARENT SHOW.

In FACT, "The Facts of Life" wasn't even the FIRST spin-off to run longer than it's parent show. THE JEFFERSONS was the FIRST to do that.

Um...yeah LucyFan, I believe that had already been settled that the person that posted originally was misinformed. There is no need to continue to rub it in. It's a dead post, let it die. Why continue to try and make somebody feel bad when it has already been pointed out the information was incorrect.

I don't think he was trying to make anyone feel bad. Why would you think that?

Why? because of these two statements:

Quote:
SO GUESS WHAT! "The Facts of Life" WASN'T the only spin-off that ran longer than it's parent show because obviously there is two more and possibly even more.
and

Quote:

They way I'm reading it (with some of the words "shouted") it just seems like he was trying to rub it in a bit more.

He hates all FOL fans and FOL itself, but won't admit it. He's (Just liek Dannie said) trying to rub it in because he thinks FOL is dirt and his boards don't get any post, like this one. He's gonna bitch me out now with non cussing words and a 3 paragraph long essay, but I don't care.Go ahead Craig. Gimmie your best shot.
