Does anyone know why the guy who played Mr. Bentley left the show from 1981-83? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I taped the episode which is the return of Mr. Bentley but i never knew why he left the show for 2 years and came back. Does anyone know why?

According to Imdb and this is just a guess but it could be right, the actor had a role on a different series that failed and i guess cuz of that they let the actor come back to be Mr. Bently again.

i think that Paul Benedict was sort of like Vincent Price, very sub-merged in the playhouse circuit during the winter months? i wouldn't be surprised if Paul took off from the show for the simple fact of starring in a play and after it's run ended he was back on "The Jeffersons".
