Default Rented season 7 from library

I was able to check out season 7 from our library and have been watching a few episodes. Andy is not in the office as much as when Barney was there and these shows seem to focus more on his home life so far. Only about 10 episodes through the season at this point. Not as funny as the B&W and I have to agree with others that in some of these episodes Andy is in a bad mood and less patient with others. But for the most part, the episodes are okay. Just not the stellar standouts of the B&W era. I need to finish watching the season to make a final judgement.

The best thing you can say about season 7, it's not as bad as season 6. When the Warren character failed to get over (and that's a very long discussion for another occasion) two things happened, the series shifted from a comedy to slice of life stories about Andy, his family and companions, and jailhouse based episodes basically disappeared. When you think about how much of the comedy and storytelling really originated at the Mayberry Courthouse the void was impossible to effectively fill. I've written this on many occasions, I think there are about 24 salvageable episodes in the last 90 (maybe a few more) enough for a virtual season that could be added to the seasons 1-5 reruns that are played constantly.

Duster76, agree. I personally don't like the Warren episodes at all, as they mess up season 6. As for season 8, there are too many episodes that really veer far from the premise of small town Mayberry. Like when Howard goes to the deserted island to live and Aunt Bea takes flying lessons.

That's what I like about S7. It's really a show about the lives of the people in the small town of Mayberry. On the episode I watched last evening, Howard caught "Big Sam", the elusive fish that everyone wanted to catch. I enjoyed seeing they guys at the lake fishing and in color it really was nice to see the trees and lake in their natural state.

Of course my favorites are seasons 1-5, but season 7 is not bad either. I'll continue watching one each evening before I have to turn it back in at the library. I may order season 7 online if I end up liking the whole thing.

So you liked the majority of S7 episodes with 16 of them being rated at a 9 or 10?

It took me a while but finally found where the local station is showing Andy Griffith color episodes, now in the mornings at 9am on WRBL TV3.
