I'm having a hard time trying to decide which new drama series to watch on Friday nights: "Joan Of Arcadia" or "Miss Match". Both of them sound promising, based on the reviews I've read so far. I watched about 5-10 minutes of each show last week and neither of them really grabbed me in a way that left me wanting more.
(One thing for sure, their competition on ABC, "George Lopez", sucks badly.) "Joan Of Arcadia" is about a young girl who sees and talks to God in various human forms, including that of a horny teenager, which naturally gave me the creeps. Where's George Burns when you need him? By nature, the show reflects a dark, sinister mood compared with "Miss Match"'s light, upbeat, tone, which I prefer in any series, most of it reflected in the show's star, Alicia Silverstone, who looks like she's matured nicely since making "Clueless", one of the worst movies I've ever seen and the main reason why I'd feel hesitant about seeing her again on TV. For those of you who seek sentimental values, "Joan" also offers viewers a chance to see Jason Ritter, John's son, in his first major TV role. Watching him work, it strikes me as very sad and more than a little unfair that his father had to die right when his son was about to embark on what looks to be his big break. I get the feeling that even if this series doesn't last very long, he will be heard from in a big way in the near future. So the question remains, which show is the better of the two right now and which one will get better in the long run: "Joan Of Arcadia" or "Miss Match"? Either way, I'd say it's a tough call! |

I didn't get a chance to see "Miss Match," and to be honest, I wasn't really interested, but the pilot for "Joan" was pretty good. The show has a great cast, and the lead actress is very good.
I will probably be tuning into "Joan Of Arcadia." |

Joan of Arcadia is very good. I'd say it's the best new drama of the season. Amber Tamblyn who I know on General Hospital is a very good young actress. The show has a great cast.
The show may be spiritual but not at all preachy, it brings its point across with humor in my opinion. |

I prefer Miss Match. Clueless is one of my fave movies and I felt bad that Alicia fell out of favor while some of her costars because A-List.
About Joan Of Arcadia. Jason Ritter technically had his "big break" earlier in the summer with Freddy vs. Jason actually. So John did live to see his son in a hit movie at least. |

I watched Joan of Arcadia twice. I thought both episodes were awful and will spend that hour each week more productively.
Miss Match...I have no interest whatsoever. |

Miss Match is pretty good, but Joan of Arcadia is better. IMO. The cast is really good, and the stories aren't preachy or religious, but they do make certain points.

Miss Match! Joan of Arcadia reminds me of a Touched by an Angel rip off, although I love Amber Tamblyn from her General Hospital days.
