Remembering Mrs. Olsen from the Folgers Coffee commercials - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

From the 1950's till 1982 Folgers Coffee had their very own spokeswoman who was a kind lady named Mrs. Olsen and she was featured in the Folgers commercials until 1982 and solved women's problems about the way their husband's coffee tasted. I don't know what actress played Mrs. Olsen but I loved her accent and that actress was so talented in the role. Every commercial began with this line "Mrs. Olsen my coffee isn't as great anymore" and Mrs. Olsen would always solve their problems with a cup of Folgers Coffee. Mrs Olsen's Folgers commercials were so nice and I wonder why Folgers doesn't revive these commercials with a new actress playing Mrs. Olsen because they would be a smart hit today

Mrs. Olson was played by character actress Virginia Christine. She was born Virginia Christine Ricketts in 1920. When her mother remarried she adopted the last name Kraft. Oddly enough when she started the commercials in 1965 Proctor & Gamble was the parent company of Folgers. The parent company of their competitor, Maxwell House was Kraft.

!!! Wow !!! That's some pretty cool info about Mrs. Olsen from the Folgers commercials and I wonder also if that was Virginia Christine's actual accent in the commercials or did she have to take dialect training when she got the role of Mrs. Olsen for the commercials? Also did Virginia Christine die or is she still alive or retired too?
