Today was the 2023 Kentucky Derby and this year's winner is Mage and Mage showed a lot of true grit and talent to win and really showed it. I must admit some of this year's horses had cool names while some names were so funny like Two Phils. Too bad about Forte dropping out but it was so exciting to see. Since I read a lot of horse books I like learning about the Kentucky Derby a lot

I always make it a point to watch the derby. I had originally picked the #9 horse, but he was scratched, then I decided to pick #8 Mage. I couldn't believe he won. Usually, my horses don't win. Happy, happy!

I started learning about the Kentucky Derby when I first brought my Thoroughbred series of books that originally came out in 1991 and are written by Joanna Campbell and as I read each book I got the general picture of how fun the Kentucky Derby was so I began watching it on Youtube and got hooked. I do think some of the horse names are clever and I think a lot of the owners pick the names of the horses from their favorite hobbies and things they like. Can you imagine owning a horse named Sitcom Star or Commercial Break?

I could go with "Commercial Breaker," the name Breaker reminds me of the 1990s sitcom Coach: The Orlando Breakers...!

Serious question, what happens in the middle of a race of the horse has to relieve themselves?
I have always wanted to go to this, mainly to people watch and drink. I don’t know the minimum bet for the horse race but maybe make a small bet so I have a horse to cheer for. |
