Default How N@N's schedule SHOULD look like!

This is just a dream schedule, of sorts, at what I think N@N should be airing right now, if they kept the "Modern TV Classics" things going. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY NOT REAL.

MONDAY-THURSDAY
7:00PM: Punky Brewster
7:30PM: Silver Spoons
8:00PM: The Hogan Family
8:30PM: Diff'rent Strokes
9:00PM: Family Ties
9:30PM: Gimme a Break!
10:00PM: One Day at a Time
10:30PM: 227
11:00PM: Mr. Belvedere
11:30PM: Benson
12:00AM: Too Close for Comfort
12:30AM: Too Close for Comfort
1:00AM: All in the Family
1:30AM: All in the Family
2:00AM: Coach
2:30AM: Coach
3:00AM: The Cosby Show
3:30AM: The Cosby Show
4:00AM: Cheers
4:30AM: Cheers
5:00AM: Charles in Charge
5:30AM: Charles in Charge

AGAIN, THIS IS NOT REAL, JUST A DREAM.

I'm sick of N @ N. If you ask me, N @ N is in the toilet and they just flushed themselves. JMO

I agree. The only thing I watch on there really is AITF since Three's Company is on so late!

If they want to just show "modern classics," I think they should show Night Court. I haven't seen that show for awhile. I know A&E had it, but I don't know if they still do. But I agree, Nick-at-Nite should just go away!

Even though I made the schedule, I too am so tired of Nick at Nite. It's lost it's way. It lost it's way a long time ago.

I starting watching N@N on what may have been the last week it showed 60s shows (Gilligan's Island, Beverly Hillbillies are two that stick out in my mind) complete with the 100% unreality motto. Then, all the sudden, came the other shows. It's alright, but TV Land is the bomb. Even the "new" TNN is getting worse, with Diff'rent Strokes going bye-bye in just over two weeks! I mean, when COsby, Cheers, Charles, Family Ties and Three's Company go, what is next? Full House? Home Improvement? Family Matters? Frasier? Or maybe a N@N revert to 50s/60s TV? We shall see, I guess...

A revert to the 50's/60's Ain't gonna happen .It's already been announced that Full House will be coming after Roseanne (Fresh Prince too I think) and I have a feeling Home Improvement and Frasier aren't far behind....

Predictions:

Fall 2002
Coach

Winter 2002/2003
Roseanne

Fall 2003
Full House

Winter 2003/2004
Home Improvement

Fall 2004
Cosby (1997)

Winter 2004/2005
Seinfeld

Fall 2005
Frasier

Once again this is ONLY a prediction!

Now, Cosby (actually, 1996-2000 on CBS ), Home Improvement and Frasier I wouldn't mind seeing on N@N because they are great.

But, hey, I still want to see/tape Mr. Ed, My Favorite Martian, McHale's Navy, Green Acres, Petticoat Junction, Carol Burnett Show, Laugh-In (Dont get Trio), Red Skelton and others. :_

Yep

This may not make sense, I explained this to my friend last night. I don't think he got it, but I'm going to try and explain it on here.

Question: Why are shows like Diff'rent Strokes and older shows getting pushed on the back burner?

Answer: It's kind of a rotation thing with ages. Look at how many 50's shows air today. The 50's was when the baby boomers were born and as the baby boomers grow older and die, that means the shows will die with them.

Let's skip up to the 80's. That was kind of another boom decade for babies. Look at all the 80's shows that are on the air now. The babies of the 80's are in their teen years now. That means tv channels are cashing in on the memories of the 80's babies. When the 80's boomers grow older, we'll have another rotation.

For some odd reason, the tv channels assume that people are classified by the shows that were on the air. They don't think to many people born in the 50's prefer shows of the 90's to shows of the 50's. The same with the people born in the 80's. They assume that the people of the 80's prefer to stay in that time mark, and not go crazy over shows from the 60's.

I'm willing to make a bet with everybody on this board. I say in the year 2010, we won't have any old classic shows on tv. If tvland is still around, that may be the only channel that shows it. I don't think we'll have old shows on other channels.

I'm interested in doing an experiment on that pretty soon. Everybody can try it, since I'm sure we have different channels. List every channel you get, and list every old show that comes on that channel. When I say old, I mean from the 50's to the 70's.

I've noticed over the years how some channels slide the old shows out in order to slide new original shows in. I'll take Scifi for example. They showed a bunch of older stuff when they first appeared, now they show a few and the rest is just original shows that they came up with.

Good examples, and such! Very very true, IMO. I mean, I can watch any show from the 1950s - present. I even tune in on occassion to Reba, Friends, Frasier, Everybody Loves Raymond, Becker, and some dramas (ER, Smallville, 7th Heaven, a few others). But I LOVE to sit down and watch Hazel, Father Knows Best, Donna Reed, Dennis the Menace, I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners (ALL were in B&W, well Hazel soon went to color). I really hate no show, lol. A few I can't stand, but I love to have variety. I'm not gonna watch shows I KNOW will be around FOREVER (Cosby Show, Cheers, etc. all). I can honestly say, I'd take the 50s over the late 80s anyday (Except maybe a few shows: Roseanne, Married With Children). The early 80s were good (Silver Spoons, Punky Brewster, etc). TV is just SO different nowadays, any real family sitcoms are trash, kids talk back and treat parents like garbage, etc. I mean, If a network even did a REAL family sitcom, it would just be made fun of by the show itself.

It also bugs me how so MANY shows are overlooked:
Blossom, Gimme a Break, One Day at a Time, Too Close For Comfort, 227, Julia, Benson, Mr. Belvedere, What's Happening!! and many many others. (Sure, they were on BET, USA and E! but why couldn't NaN pick them up???)

I dunno, TV is just driving me NUTS nowadays.

That dream schedule stinks. No offense Lucyfan, but most of those shows are on other networks. Dream schedules should be, in my opinion, about shows that aren't on air like Mr. Belvedere, 227, Small Wonder, Ghost & Mrs. Muir, Here's Lucy, etc. Also Saved By The Bell and Full House aren't classics.

LucyFan this is a dream schedule in my opinion, shows that won't be on air for a long time, or never, but dreams about them being on. BTW nice schedule TVJunkie. I miss Gimme A Break.
