Type of pants Wally and Eddie wear

Season two the boys (not Beaver) wear a type of pant that have a buckle on the back. Is it a type of chino? They are not jeans and are worn very loose.

I think I've seen khaki style pants, like Dockers, which have a fabric strip with a buckle, in the back. Must have been a style of the time; not sure if it comes and goes.

That's interesting, I'm not familiar with chinos -- but I've thought for many years they were a tight style of pants and would not be "loose" because of these lyrics from Billy Joel's song "Keeping the Faith":

We wore matador boots
Only Flagg Brothers had them with the Cuban heel
Iridescent socks with the same color shirt
And a tight pair of chinos

A few things I noticed about the pants my dad and uncle wore in that era: oftentimes they had cuffs and sometimes were pleated at the top. They were oftentimes worn with very narrow/thin belts.

I think in some later episodes I've seen Wally with a really narrow belt.

When I was in high school I wore a lot of corduroy pants, including bell-bottoms that had fallen out of style
(hand-me-downs from my brother). For some reason my mom had dressed me a lot in cords when I was
really young, like ages 5 to 9. (CARD-ur-oy as she pronounced them.)

Anyway, I remember going up a set of stairs at my high school and one of the two girls behind me
pinched my thigh. She said she wanted to see if I was filling out my pants...! (My thighs had come
along from an early age due to my love of a pedal car.)

Yep, those are the narrow belts I was thinking of. I also remember that extended fabric with the hook fastener and no belt loops, that Wally has on in the last picture.

What do you consider chino vs docker?
Its about the fabric isn't it?

Or is it the styling?

This is similar as far as the buckle.

So, pretty much since the 30s men have had the jean, the Chino/docker, and dress slacks

While Beaver and Larry Mondello were often seen wearing blue jeans, I think Wally was only seen once or twice wearing blue jeans on the show; Wally usually was seen in khaki pants.

Can you imagine the endomorphic Lumpy Rutherford or the ectomorphic Eddie Haskell wearing tight Jordache jeans on the show? Aunt Martha AND Mary Ellen Rogers would be absolutely appalled!!!

Yes, It would have been great fun to see Aunt Martha in a time machine and getting a look at Madonna, Kim Kardashian and Courtney Love.

Aunt Martha would probably think that Marlene Holmes would look like Nancy Drew or Debbie Boone by comparison!

I usually think people gripe too much about unrealistic stuff on the show, but the high school boys not wearing Levi's always bugged me. Baby boomer boys were/are the Levi's generation. Khakis/chinos were popular too, but boys of that generation wore jeans to school most of the time.
