As revealed in today’s episode, the podcast has come to an end. With no news on the Netflix series, I’m afraid we’ve returned to a period of no new Unsolved Mysteries content.
If Netflix does cancel the series, the producers can shop it around to tv networks, just not other streaming services. |

Thats a damn shame, the podcast was fantastic. I don't give two hoots about the new series it was garbage and won't be missed.

I also thought the podcast was superior to the Netflix series so I’m sad to see it go. I guess it didn’t have enough listeners to warrant the production. Steve French was a great narrator and I really appreciated the use of the original theme music.

I can't speak on the podcast because I never tuned in.
However, the problem with the Netflix series is they made it just like every other show on ID, Crime & Investigation, etc. Everything that made the original UM stand out they took away. So shopping it elsewhere really isn't going to do much because shows like the new UM are a dime a dozen. The only episode I really enjoyed was the one about the guy in Detroit whose body was found on the freeway and the lady is still on the run. I hope if the series is ever revisited they stick to the core fundamentals of the OG version. Some of the cases presented didn't need a full hour it was a snoozefest getting through them. I will forever be a UM stan. |

I agree about sticking to the OG theme, but they have a host/narrator crisis with no RS walking through the door. I just feel whatever they do will never be good enough anymore. I hope to get to hear the podcast sometime. |

Two problems. One, Hollywood is in a deep decline and is incapable of making anything like the original. Two, the structure of the industry has fragmented viewing to the point where instead of 3 large networks producing good quality content, we effectively have dozens of "services" churning out cheap garbage because they need to appeal to specific segments. The OG Unsolved Mysteries would be very expensive to produce compared to this trash, so they won't do it. A host could be found if the wanted to. Even though no one is Robert Stack, a man of roughly the same age profile (or even a bit younger) with a good wardrobe of suits, ties, trench coats, etc. and the right manner would be a close enough substitute. |

No one will ever replace RS, but there are people who could be great hosts for the show. The lack of reenactments, segments, host, etc. was a huge slap in the face to the hardcore fanbase who made that reboot possible. It was just a huge let down. |

From the few episodes I listened to the series should have been called "Unprosecuted Mysteries", as they all seemed to have a pretty obvious prime suspect.

The only way it would work is if it were shopped with a format change. Something close to what people expect the Unsolved Mysteries brand to be from their memories and from what they see on places like Roku and Pluto. Unsolved Mysteries was not glossy reenactments, it was not high production value that needs 2 years to produce a season, it wasn't generic non-music background music. They should have done what Forensic Files II is doing. Rather than what A&E's also doing with their legacy brands, making generic dry content that's interchangeable (you can literally swap the American Justice/City Confidential/Cold Case Files intros and not tell an episode was meant for another show) Also ... Robert Stack is a legend but he is NOT irreplaceable. That's just lazy. If they can successfully recast Spock twice they can get a suitable narrator to deliver a creepy tone to a segment. |
