Homer Simpson becomes president of the NBA & WNBA - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

With the NBA Playoffs almost starting, I figured I would make a fictional sketch about what it would be like if in the Simpsons storylines if Homer applied for the job of NBA President and decided to move the playoffs to March. Remember this is the same show where they allowed ordinary citizens to become NASA astronauts with little training. Also, remember this is a show where you have to suspend disbelief A LOT of times.

(Homer is watching TV with beer in his hand and eating potato chips.)

Kent Brockman: “In sports news, the NBA is looking for a new president who will serve as president of both the NBA and WNBA after the old ones just resignined over the fact that he just doesn’t like basketball anymore.”

Homer: “Ooooh, that’s a job for me. I always thought that it was wrong for the playoffs to begin in April and end in June. When I get the job, I will move the headquarters to Springfield . I don’t t want to commute for five hours. I will move it to March and really make March Madness with the NCAA playoffs occurring at the same time.. WHOO-HOOO!”

(Homer applies for the job with a resume that is a big lie. He then gets the job.)

(Much later. People at Moe’s Tavern are watching the news.)

Kent: “New NBA President Homer Simpson has said that starting this season, the playoffs will occur at the same time as NCAA March Madness.”

Barney: “Wow!”

(Barney belches loudly.)

Carl: “Something tells me that is a dumb move.”

Larry: “Yeah, Homer is not necessarily as smart as Alex Trebek.”

(Homer is on TV…wearing the same attire that he does at home.)

Homer: “Greetings TV Land. I will now really make March Madness March Madness.” (with an angry voice): “It will be madder than ever before.” (normally): “I even got a new sponsor. Duff beer. Mmmmmmm. Beer!”

(Homer salivates on live TV.)

(The Duff man comes on.)

Duff Man (yells): “OH YEAH!”

(Much later during the NBA and WNBA playoffs, the NBA, WNBA and network officials barge into Homer’s office.)

Man (yells): “SIMPSON, YOU IDIOT. THE RATINGS ARE DOWN ALMOST 99%. WE ARE GETTING BEAT BY A CHARLIE CHUNG CHRISTMAS. WE ARE LOSING MONEY DUE TO YOUR BAD IDEA OF MOVING THE PLAYOFFS.”

Homer: “Don’t worry. I got a foolproof plan.”

Man (yells): “SIMPSON, THE PLAYERS WILL NOT WORK FOR FREE.”

Homer (yells): “D’OH!”

(Much later, the Simpsons with a dejected Homer are watch8ng TV.)

Kent: “The NBA and WNBA is looking for a new president of both companies after the previous one proved to be dumber than a box of rocks.”

Marge: “Well Homer, at least you got a chance to be on TV.”

Bart: “Yes, you are INFAMOUS. Hahahaha!”

Homer (strangels Bart, yells): “WHY YOU LITTLE!”

(The sketch ends with the family trying to pry them apart.)
