Beginning in May MASH will run for two hours Mon-Fri from 6-8pm. Based on what's happened in the past that could signal a permanent end to The A Team in the 6-7pm time slot.

MeTV has had problems with the 6-7 timeslot for quite awhile. Running 22 episodes is practically a season per week. I just checked and that cycles the series in around 11-1/2 weeks.

Doing this is a bad precedent. It sets them on the path to being another Nick at Nite, which centers its existence on one show.

The article just says they're doing an extra hour for five weeks, through June 2. They're going to be special blocks of Hawkeye, Margaret, Radar, Potter, and BJ episodes. Is there something that indicates they're going to do it all summer?

For me, I'd rather have a week of Henry/Potter than just Potter, and Trapper/BJ than just BJ.

If ratings are okay, I can see METV keeping the extra hour of MASH on the schedule. Like Stevea mentioned a few posts above, they have tried various shows in the 6pm death slot (The Jeffersons, The Flintstones, The Addams Family and recently The A-Team). Basically, if a show is doing good or even just okay in a certain timeslot, METV usually leaves that slot alone.

With the Beverly Hillbillies doing good in the 9:00pm slot, suprised they haven't tried moving Gomer Pyle and Mayberry RFD to the 6:00pm slot.

Ugh. This show airs endlessly on the channel! The A-Team may move to 5 pm replacing Adam-12 since FETV recently got the rights to Adam.

Its been this way since 2017. I've never seen the primetime lineup change at all since then. Besides Beverly Hillbillies replacing Gomer.

On Monday June 5th, something else will air in the 6PM time slot. My guess is that it will not be The A-Team returning.
I hope its another action show that hasn't been on the channel. Knight Rider would be cool. They can get the Hoff to do commercials for it.

The A-Team was the first action show to air at the 6 pm timeslot since Hawaii Five-O wayyy back in summer 2017. I really hope its not another hour of sitcoms or even worse more MASH on the channel. We need more genres on the channel.

MeTV made a big mistake by pulling the following shows from the 6pm hour in the last two years, The Flintstones on April 30, 2021 from the 6pm slot after 19 months in that time slot and Happy Days last year on May 27th from the 6:30pm slot after 24 months there. Here is the solution that MeTV can do to right this wrong: move Adam-12 to 6am and The A-Team to 5pm sometime in mid-May and come June 5th, bring back The Flintstones and Happy Days to 6pm and 6:30pm respectively, that is option one (as they both did well in those slots initally). Option two for the 6-7pm is to slot a new acquisition The Wonder Years (the one starring Fred Savage) in the 6pm slot and pair it up with Happy Days returning to the 6:30pm time slot and The Flintstones to 8am in between Toon In with Me at 7am and Leave It To Beaver at 8:30am.

Jay,

You have some good ideas.

I think they need to consider moving The Brady Bunch to 6:00pm. With The Wonder Years at 6:30pm. This combination was very successful on NICK at NITE.

Except on NICK at NITE it was The Brady Bunch at 9:00pm & The Wonder Years at 9:30pm.

Another Suggestion is moving Leave It To Beaver to WeekNights at 6:00pm & The Wonder Years at 6:30pm. Having Happy Days WeeKDays at 8:30AM. Replacing one episode of Leave It To Beaver.

Welcome JayWilliams23

The reason for the moves made by METV were ratings, The Flintstones numbers were trending downwards, it's that simple. The A Team was headed in the same direction. Adam 12 does well at 5pm and 5:30 why would they move it. METV is programmed very well, they make moves when it is necessary.

Merry24

The Wonder Years is not a good fit for METV, at least not on a daily basis, I guess they might consider it for Sunday's but even there, I don't think it would work.

I disagree with you on that, first of all I think The Wonder Years would be an excellent fit for MeTV in the 6pm slot paired up with Happy Days at 6:30pm, that would improve their 6pm hour ratings significantly. Second, Adam 12 has been in the 5pm hour since January 1, 2020 so its time for MeTV to lay that show to rest for awhile or relocate it to 6am teamed up with Highway Patrol and Dragnet and therefore, moving The A-Team into the 5pm hour in attempt to improve their ratings.

Here is my suggestion of an updated early evening/primetime lineup for MeTV come June 5th:
5pm The A-Team (New Time)
6pm The Wonder Years (New to MeTV)
6:30pm Happy Days (returning)
7pm M*A*S*H*
7:30pm The Andy Griffith Show (New Time)
8pm Gomer Pyle USMC (returning)
8:30pm Hogan's Heroes (New Time)
9pm The Beverly Hillbillies
9:30pm Green Acres
10pm Petticoat Junction (New to weeknights)
10:30pm Carol Burnett (New Time)
11pm The Dick Cavett Show (New to MeTV in an edited 35 minute format)

Therefore, Adam-12 would move to the 6am half hour teamed with Highway Patrol and Dragnet to form a 5-6:30am Sunrise Cop Block, followed by My Three Sons at 6:30am, Toon In with Me at 7am, The Flintstones at 8am and Leave It To Beaver at 8:30am. This way, MeTV can eliminate a lot of the double-episoding of programs that they currently air to make room for more shows currently not airing. For Adam-12, after being in the 5pm hour slot for over three years since January 1, 2020, it is time to relocate that show or rest it for awhile.
