Default Isn't it a shame that once Urkel won Laura's heart, the show was cancceled?poor steve

Steve urkel spent 8 years chasing the lovely laura winslow and once they got together-the show was not on the air that much longer-Poor urkel-all that hard work for nothing-It should have atleast last until urkel and laura got married-

LOL, I soooo agree with you! In it's later days I wasn't watching it religiously like I once had been, and one day I tuned into the episode where Urkel was going into space and it was mentioned that they were engaged. I was like 'HUH?!?!?! NO WAY!!!" and got all excited. I was really hoping for a wedding episode.

I think I out grew family matters because i have a lot of episodes on tape and i never watch them-I tried watching it but the show no longer holds my interest.

I agree i think the series finale should of been Steve and Laura wedding.
It also think it would of been nice if some of the characters who had left the show appeared in the series finale.

Default The Urkel-Winslow Wedding

I read somewhere, that the people behind "Family Matters" believed there was going to be another season. That season would have had their wedding. Since others have posted about the later years, the one main thing I didn't like was the cast change of Harriette. At least she didn't vanish like Judy, but since they only had a hand full of episodes left, they should have just had Harriette go on a vacation or something. That's just my opinion, though.

A Laura and Urkel Wedding???-That would have been the goofiest thing ever showed on a TV set

Default Would have been a perfect ending

Stve and Laura getting married. It would have worked. It would have brought the show into full circle. In the beginning, Laura hated Steve, but by this time Laura realized that everything Steve has done all these years for her were really worth them getting engaged. I was like "Oh My GOD!" when Laura accepted Steve's proposal after years of dropping him like a sack of potatoes. I wish Myrtle could have had that same luck with Eddie, but I believed that Eddie really did belong to Greta, and Myrtle was just in the way of that. It was best of have one Urkel score and another strike out. But I digress.
In the meantime, It would have been a ultimate ending to a great show. I think that they should have gotten Steve and Laura to marry the minute Steve got back from space. Oh, what could have been!

I'm sorry, but I didn't like when Laura and Steve got together in the end. I know that's what people wanted to happen, but I personally thought Laura was a better match with Stephan and Steven was better with Myra. Myra loved Steve the way he was and Laura was always dissing him and always tried to change him. I guess that's why the Laura and Steve pairing just didn't work for me, also watching it through the years I never cheered for Steve to get Laura.

Oh, I totally thought Steve and Laura were meant to be together--I agree with everything hch said. In fact, I never really did like Stefan or Myra. Stefan didn't have any personality. And I thought Myra was like a thousand times more annoying than Steve ever was. She was good for Steve for a while, but then she got crazily possessive. Steve changed in the 9th season because he wanted to, and Myra just didn't accept his need to do that. I think when Steve changed, Laura started noticing him more, but what made her fall in love with him was the sweet, funny, smart, gentle, caring, etc, person he always was, and only in the 9th season did she finally give him a chance.

Anyway, yeah, I was also outraged when I realized that there would be no Steve and Laura wedding. So unfair. If the series had gone on, I wonder if they'd have kids yet--probably.
