there's been lots of topics about fav. books, but what about the ones you hated reading cuz they were boring or didn't even finish them?
i hated reading... 1984 (well, actually, i never finished it) we had to read it in 8th grade and we had a choice of reading that as a class or different george orwell books. i chose to read different ones but the majority won and we had to read it. it was just sooo boring. and it was like this other boring world. it was really confusing too. great expectations was also boring. the idea of it was cool, but i don't like dickens. oliver twist....it was one of the books on the summer reading list so i thought i'd read it. after like 10 pgs. i gave up. i don't like the old writing. |

I remember in High School we had to read a book called The Chocolate War. I didn't care too much for that one.

I never read a book I didnt like, because, frankly, I knew the books we had to read in school sucked, so I didnt read them. I would quickly glance over them the day we had a quiz, needless to say, in which I would fail! lol, although sometimes I pulled of an A or B. Thing is, I TOLD my teachers I didnt read it!!! lol. I did read some of the books, if they looked interesting, but some I would read one page, and couldnt remember any of it! I remember my freshman summer reading was Black Boy- the only book I read (although not all of it..its like well over 400 pages) and that sucked too...IMO.
I dont know if they do this at your schools, but when you become a senior, you read short stories..and theyre actually REALLY good. |

Over the years, I've read numerous books. Some were awesome books, but some of them sucked. Here's my list of books that I would recommend for people NOT to read.
Scarlett- I love Gone with the Wind, but the sequel just dragged on and on and on. I finally stopped halfway through. Cyrano De Burgerac- Had to read this for Senior Lit. The notes saved my butt because the book was just written in such a manner that made me think WTF? everytime I read a page. The Odyssey- Had to read this for Mythology- This wasn't the translated version either, so needless to say everybody had trouble with the book. MacBeth- Had to read this for Senior Lit too. It was confusing in the book, but the notes made it sound cool. I guess that one is a half and half. |
