A few of these cartoons are known to have had their original titles discovered, but possibly on 16mm film. Examples are Tale of Two Mice and Daffy Doodles. It's possible they have finally decided to restore from those (or restore only the titles/credits from those), or they may have located 35mm prints. We'll have to see, since Jerry Beck is quiet on that.

A little disappointed that Ain't That Ducky" and "Peck Up Your Troubles wasn't included in this set. These two are really needing a proper restoration and opportunities like this are few and far between. Maybe we will see them in vol 2, if vol 1 sells enough to justify another set.

Yes, to be frank I was a little disappointed, too. 2 late 50s, common Road Runners? the real crying need is the 40s cartoons. A couple of the late 40s Tweetys are highly desired.

I, too, really hope the sales justify additional volumes.

Basically a Q&A about the upcoming set.
Worth a look for the questions and answers in the comments.

A question answered/a mis-statement from another site corrected:

1. Jerry knows of no cross-promotion plans with MeTV/Toon In With Me.

2. Jerry says it's a pressed disc, not manufacture-on-demand.

My brother owns all of the older DVD Looney Tunes collections, so I wonder what your opinions are regarding whether these new sets would be worthwhile for him. He's not really the type who cares about title cards or super-high quality restoration. I was thinking about using the new stuff as a Christmas present down the line.

As for myself I love the 40s and 50s cartoons, but I always have my DVDs handy with some public domain 1930s Warner cartoons on them like "Freddy the Freshman," so I'm more likely to watch those than borrow my brother's compilations.

I originally stated someone would have to analyze this collection to see what cartoon(s) appeared on a Golden Collection. Then I checked a few on Looney Tunes Wiki Fandom, which shows availability of the cartoons. Eventually I ended up checking them all, and the surprising thing is that there is no double-dipping on any of the Golden Collections, IF the source is correct. Below is the analysis:

I do know there are a few rarities on this disc that have not appeared on any cartoon collections. I just checked on His Bitter Half, and that one has not--it's a standout cartoon. Plop Goes the Weasel, Beanstalk Bunny, A Fractured Leghorn, and Hip Hip Hurry have only been on VHS/Beta. Stooge for a Mouse, Catch as Cats Can, Two Gophers from Texas, and Doggone Cats have only been on Laser Disc. What's Brewin', Bruin?, Hot Rod and Reel, A Mouse Divided, The Foxy Duckling, Cracked Quack, and Little Orphan Airedale have only been on VHS and Laser Disc. The Bee-Deviled Bruin, Daffy Doodles, Greedy for Tweety, The Unruly Hare, and Tale of Two Mice have been on DVD/Blu-Ray and/or Laser Disc but not on a Golden Collection. I don't think they have been on any of the other well-known collections like Platinum Collections, either.

Great, thank you! I didn't realize there would be so much on there that isn't already readily available -- which is so nice for fans. I appreciate the analysis.
