Foley Square made its debut on Wednesday, December 11, 1985 on CBS at 8:30pm
Foley Square was the location of the Manhattan Office District Attorney Office The show followed another new sitcom called Mary and competed with Highway to Heaven on NBC and Insiders on ABC in timeslot. The show featured Cathy Silvers from Happy Days, Vernee Watson from Welcome Back Kotter and Fresh Prince, and Michael Lembeck from One Day at a Time. The show ranked #48 out of 70 shows after its first airing and was tied with the Twilight Zone The show ranked #50 out of 65 shows after the 2nd airing below McGyver at #49 and above Hill Street Blues at #51 The show ranked #49 out of 50 shows after the 3rd airing below Hall Town at #48 and above A-Team at #50 After a month of being on the air with ratings in the 50's, actress Margaret Colin said that the show will eliminate single women jokes from the show and focus more on her coworkers and her career. The show slowed slight improvement toward the end of January 1986 with a #41 ranking. By February 1986, Bill Hayden of the Gannett News Service, complimented the series for getting better and turning into a real adult Comedy. Even with the changes the show fell back in the 50's toward the end of February which led to CBS taking the show off the air for a month after the February 26, 1986 airing. The show returned on Tuesday, March 25, 1986 now airing on Tuesdays after Mary at 930pm. The show's new competition was Moonlighting on ABC and Hunter on NBC. The ranking after the first airing on Tuesday Night was #60 out of 65 shows with Mary not far behind at #58. By Mid April, both Mary and Foley Square continued to fall near the bottom with rankings of #62 and #64 out of 71 shows The show finished the 1985-86 season ranked #67 above Charlie and Company #68 out of 82 shows CBS brought the show back for the summer of 1986 on Wednesday nights at 8pm The last airing of the show was July 23 1986.
