You don't got to be from Port Washington to know this TV show was COMPLETELY OFF about life in Wisconsin
First of all, the opening credit sequence was a joke. The amusement park was filmed at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California, but they tried to make it look like it was in Wisconsin. They digitally added water next to the roller coaster to make it look like it was on the banks of Lake Michigan but the waves ended up look like ocean waves 'cause that Lake Michigan doesn't have those big crashing waves. Another thing that gave it away that it wasn't in Wisconsin was these large rolling, arid hills in the background. We don't have hills like that in Wisconsin, those are typical of California. Wisconsin is mostly flat, green, and has small rolling hills. Sadly, they did not digital alter this out. Then you'd always see the establishing shot of the house before the show starts. If you look WAY in the background, you'll see a palm tree. Yeah, we don't have those here in Wisconsin. You can't fool us. This house is actually in South Pasadena, CA. Sadly, all of the exterior shots were shot in CA and not in WI and IT SHOWS because you see a lot of trees that aren't native to Wisconsin. Sometimes, they'll have winter episodes where they tried to "winterize" the scenes, but it looks so fake because the snow has an unnatural icy look to it and they even had one scene in the backyard where they used fake snow that looked like confetti or ticker tape Lastly, the show completely harped on the "cheese state" and "cheesehead" stereotype. It got annoying after awhile because it's such a stereotype. If anything it just perpetuated it It's clear that the writers and producers had very little knowledge of Wisconsin and put little VERY LITTLE effort into looking like they did. The TV viewers are not idiots. We catch this stuff

It definitely would have made more sense to have scenes filmed in Wisconsin.
