What were the worst accidents you had on the playground or playing games at recess in elementary school? (or later
)The other day I managed to scrape the side of my leg up really bad playing red rover during a break at band practise... I found out this morning that my other friends who were playing have "war scars" too, (one of them has an imprint of my fingernails in his shoulder....ow) That really is a dangerous game when you take it seriously! In elementry school I was always getting hurt in games like that. Usually because I played with people who were older than me and mostly boys who seemed not to know the meaning of pain. Besides that, I fell out of a tree playing hide and seek once...that hurt. |

Well, I fell off a slide and broke my finger. *shrugs* not bad.
But my sister, some idiot @ school pushed her down and she broke her tooth, and she needed a root canal..... |

In preschool I was climbing up these wooden stairs to a slide and I fell and my whole thigh (sp?) was a bloody mess.
And then in kindergarden some kid bit my back and left a mark...it hurt...a lot... And then in 1st or 2nd grade I was in gym class and we were playing this Easter egg game and u run to the center, grab the egg, and take it back somewhere. Well I was bending over and this one guy popped up and gave me a HUGE black eye. I had like a bump, it musta been an inch away from my face. And THEN in second grade I jumped on the monkey bars with gloves on and I slipped and fell and got the wind knocked outta me...I gotta go home ![]() I'm sure other things have happened, but I can't remember them... |

I was outside one day and was hanging out with this one girl and I wanted to go over by the junior high. I started to walk over and she stuck her foot out and tripped me. I landed face down on the asphalt and my cheek and nose were a mess, I was screaming my head off. I was only 6. All these people came running and the b*tch teacher grabs me by the arm and drags me to the nurses office, all the time squeezing my arm, well she didn't bother sticking around to see if she could help or ask if I would be okay. I can't remember how long it took the nurse to get my nose to stop bleeding. She gave me an ice pack and called my mother, The nurse was a whole lot nicer. My mother came in and took me right to the doctor who examined me and sent me to the hospital for X-rays. He had to clean the wounds. and stuff, Man that hurt like hell. No broken bones, but I puked when I got home and I was sore and I looked like hell.

I would have to say that the worst was actually a tie. (I don't remember the exact years, but they were both in elementary. The first one, I think I was in 2nd grade, happened while we were at recess. My school had these HUGE big wheel tires (You know like from the monster tucks). Anyway, they were all lying on there sides stacked up. There were the 2 big piles that formed to holes that you could climb down into and then several tires scattered around to climb all over. Anyway, I used to be HIGHLY allergic to bees, wasps, yellow jackets, etc… I was over there playing one day and I felt something on my head, I reached up there to swat at it, and it was a red wasp. To say the least it stung me and I had to go to the hospital to get a shot. Before it was too late. My mom came to the school and gave me the pills to slow it down, then she rushed me to the emergency room where I got a shot (Oh joy, oh joy)
The other worst happened, I think in 3rd grade. This time I was at P.E. and we were playing baseball. I had just hit a ball DEEP into left field and was running the bases. They threw the ball to home plate to try and get me out so I slid feet first. The home plate was not in the ground like it was supposed to be and I got my foot caught UNDER the base. I broke my foot. They took me to the nurses and tried to call my mom. It took them a little bit to locate her because she had just come BACK from taking my oldest sister to the emergency room because SHE had gotten hurt during P.E. (She fell off the climbing wall and broke 2 ribs because her spotter wasn’t paying attention. Then, just to complete the day, right after mom brought ME home from the ER we got a call from my middle sister’s school saying that SHE had injured herself in P.E. as well so mom had to take her 3rd and final trip to the ER that day. We all got to stay home for a few days to recuperate. I think we made my mom go mad those few days Oh well, what do you expect from a bunch of kids who could do NOTHING but lay in bed all day. ![]() D

I remember my worst one. It was partially my fault, but that's okay..
I was like, four or five, and in this pre-kindergarten thing that went as long as kindergarten did, but we were too young to be in the real kindergarten. I was out on the playground and there was this boy who always made fun of me during the year, and he kept telling me he was going to throw woodchips at me. So I told him to do that, just like in a daring kind of way (remember, though, I was four!), and he threw this huge woodchip into my eye. Yeah, so much for daring people to do things... it didn't end up good!! |

Back in third grade I was on a swing and some stupid grade six girls were running underneath the swing I was on. Well, one of them bumped her head on the swing and the swing jerked and I turned to my left to see if she was okay and the bell rang and I jumped off the swing to go inside and felt a twinge of pain in my shoulder, but it wasn't until I got home for lunch a few hours later that I realized I couldn't turn my neck to the left without it hurting. The doctor said it was a muscle spasm, but if it was, I don't see how it would hurt that badly, or hurt in both my shoulder and my neck, unless there's a muscle I don't know about that connects the two of them together. I still feel pain in that side today, but I don't notice it hurting as much now since I've lived with it for such a long time.

Mine was probably in P.E. around 1st/2nd/3rd grade. We had this whole class-tag thingy going, & this girl tagged me so hard, I fell over, knocked my tooth out. Ick. Luckily, they were my baby-teeth and it grew right back.
And the moral of the day is::: Never wear a smile when playing tag.
