Does anyone remember the name of the blue elephant in the Kitty Karry-All episode???? Someone recently asked me and usually I know all the answers to any Brady Bunch question, but this one has me stumped!!!

His name was Dumbo! (Like the classic Disney cartoon) Bobby says, "Over again Dumbo" and he flips him over using the remote. Here's a puzzle that was on this thread about a year ago, but newbees might be interested because it involves this episode. Cindy asks Bobby, "Where did he (Dumbo) come from?" and Bobby answers, "From Africa, Mommy bought him for me." We could never figure out the logic in that statement. There is no mention of Carol ever being to Africa at any time during the series. My best guess is that Bobby knew that elephants live in Africa, so he tells Cindy that Dumbo came from Africa. (Robert Reed, who will all know was a stickler for realism on the show, must have responded negatively to that line in the script.)

I vote for Jumbo, not Dumbo. If they would have used Dumbo, that might have caused a problem with Disney.

Mike Lookinland enunciated plenty for us to hear the elephant's name which was indeed, Jumbo.
Personally, if Robert Reed had even cared about the elephant he wouldn't have let a major error go by, in that later at Driscoll's Toy Store, that same elephant is for sale. |
