Post New New Monkees?

What does everyone think of the news of yet another attempt to re-create The Monkees?

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...n_monkees_dc_1

Personally, I think it will never work

Does no one learn from the past?? They tried this once and it blew up in their faces. It sure isn't gonna work now.

Oh no! Not again! Yuck! I'll probably watch it to see what it is about but I know I won't like it cuz there is only one Monkees. Mike, Micky, Peter & Davy... No one else should ever have the name...

I totally agree with both of you!!!!! But I'm hoping that this WILL stir up more interest in the originals, and perhaps get them on tv again, after tv land taking them off.

They'd better just stick to the originals! They're the best, and will remain so until the world ends...or better yet, even after it ends. Wait a second...is that possible?

Angry I don’t think so!

There will NEVER be a NEW Monkees the Monkees will ALWAYS be Peter, Davy, Mike, and Micky.

The Disney TV show “the New Monkees” was a total flop and there songs sucked!

You can never re-create the fan frenzy the ORIGINAL post fab four Monkees had EVER!

VH1 is trying to make a new Partridge Family … Give me a break! Lets just watch the Original HIT shows and be done with it!

The fact that there was nearly two years between posts in this thread should tell you something about how much people care about the New Monkees.

I wouldn't hold out any hopes for a 20th anniversary tour next year.

Thanks for bringing up a bad memory Dr. Thong, lol. Sadly I do remember what a stinker that was.

Just what we don't need another bad remake. Like everyone pretty much said, there's nothing or will never be another Monkees like the original.

I don't like remakes of classic TV shows in general, whether as new series or
as movies. Not only should they not have tried to remake THE MONKEES,
they also should never have tried to remake LEAVE IT TO BEAVER, THE BEVERLY
HILLBILLIES, MY FAVORITE MARTIAN, THE MUNSTERS, CHARLIE'S ANGELS,
... well, I think you get the idea.

Consider yourself lucky.

It was an '80s attempt to revive the concept of The Monkees with new actors/characters and music. It lasted one season and was never heard from again. A CD was released, which could be bought cheaply in bargain bins for years afterward.
