Default TV problems need advice?

This afternoon when my mom was gonna watch the news when suddenly our living room TV wouldn't work and I would like to know if anyone has had this problem with their TV's. When Mom turns on the living room TV it turns on for a few minutes then the screen fades and then turns completely off. And the odd thing is the TV worked fine this morning but in the afternoon the troubles started. My mom searched for what caused this to happen and the only thing that happened was yesterday a power outage happened in the morning and other than that the TV was working yesterday perfectly. Mom has unplugged and plugged the TV back in and the same trouble happens. We got our living room TV in 2021 and it was working great until this afternoon. Could this be the sign of a broken TV and do power outages cause damages to TV's and also could updates also cause troubles to smart TV's as well because that's what kind our living room TV is
Any helpful advice is welcome

I have to ask, when your mom searched for answers did she include the brand name and model number? Different brands and models have different issues. For example, I have had 2 Vizio TV's that over time developed a large black spot in the corner. One I bought and the other was give to me. Your problem sounds similar to one my mom had with her Vizio. The recommended cure was to turn it off, unplug the power cord for 5 minutes then try again. That resolved the problem so hopefully your mom's TV can be fixed also. If not then you may want to call this factory trained professional.

The most likely thing sounds like a problem with the main power transformer, which can be the result of a power failure or lightening strike. It's not so much that the power went out as it is WHAT CAUSED the power to go out. Some power failures include a power surge prior to the failure (crossed wires, storm damage, etc)

If you've tried all the factory reset techniques for your set, then I'd take it to a local electronic repair shop for diagnostics.

If it ends up being the transformer, you're probably talking a couple hundred bucks to get your used TV working again. Compare that to what it would cost you to get a new one, and decide if the extra is worth getting the new TV

Best of luck.

You probably got a surge which screwed up the electronics. It's likely cheaper to get a new one than repair it. I'm not even sure who repairs tv's anymore they are so cheap.

Mom called the factory for hints on fixing our living room TV yesterday and what they told her was there was nothing she could do about it. Mom also asked if they could give her a new TV and they said no. So Mom has to use our old TV for now but I still can't figure out what caused the living room TV to stop working? But we might look for sales on TVs soon

We had a TV go out because of a power surge. The one TV we didn't have plugged into a surge protector, now all of our electronic devices are plugged into surge protectors.

If you get a new TV, I do NOT recommend Vizio brand. The Vizio I had came with awful sound problems. Sound would keep repeating and getting off with the picture, I heard much later this was a design flaw with that model. The LG brand I replaced it with has been much better.

As Torgo mentioned, be sure to buy a power strip or other plug-in device with surge protection. They're not expensive. All you'll need to do is to insert the new TV's plug into it, before plugging into your wall outlet.

My mom got very lucky and got a great deal on a brand new TV for our living room and it's arriving Saturday and Mom isn't the only one that is gonna get a new TV. I am gonna get the living room TV that Mom is currently watching too and Mom is trying to fix it up and get it set up for me too. I sure will miss my TV and it was great but the only thing wrong is that the power button on the remote control fell off and broke so Mom had to tape it for me. Mom tried to once again fix the living room TV and no luck so she got the new TV
