Default Why Did Dawnn Lewis Leave The Show?

I know she was on here for a good while. What happened? Why did she leave? I didn't like the other woman who took her place. What was the woman's name who took her place?

The characters name was Geneva Lee. Her acting was terrible at times, so episodes she would just walk on set and shout out all her lines.

Didn't someone say before that Dawn Lewis left for "creative differences" and wasn't that the same reason she left A Different World?

She was probably let go because they wanted to develop it for a kiddie show on Friday Nights with the raven symone character.

I don't remember Dawnn Lewis in this show outside of two or three episodes, but she has this slightly pissed off looking quality about her in everything I have seen her in which I guess clashed with this show's tone. Plus, I think they kicked her to the curb to put raven on as a regular. Raven had second billing for most of the show which is strange because she was only a 7 year old kid when she joined the show.

JamesAnthony u are exactly right about Dawnn. She does look like she has a pissed off attitude in everything she plays in. She smiles sometimes but not that much LOL. Did u see the small part she had in The Wood movie with Taye Diggs & Omar Epps when she worked at the cleaners? Taye, Omar, Richard T Jones had brought her their dirty clothes that Taye had threw up on & she acted like she didn't wanna take their clothes hahahahahahaha. Her character was shy in I'm Gonna Git U Sucka movie which is the first time i've seen her play a character like that. She was also in School Daze movie with Spike Lee but i don't really remember her in that.

I saw The Wood at the cinema. She was OK in that one. At least this wasn't a ghetto blaxploitation flick.

Remember in The Wood movie when Omar Epps was thinkin back when he was a teenager & he was slow dancing with Malinda Williams at the senior prom & his penis got hard? Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. His penis got hard again when they were slow dancing at her house in her bedroom while Luther Vandross's If This World Were Mine song was playin. He cracked me up when he had sex with her for like a few minutes. He hadn't even came yet LOL. She was like are u done hahahahahahahahahaha. Malinda Williams is a cutiepie.

I don't really like Dawnn Lewis' acting, she just seems mad most of the times, I didn't like her on 'A Different World' and I didn't like her here.

The Different World episodes in which Jaleesa gave birth and just after that at Whitley and Dwayne's wedding are the only things I have seen her in where she actually looked content and happy. I don't know if she really did have a baby at that time, but I'm guessing that she did. Actually, Dawnn acted more pleasant in ADW's 5th year than in other years or in other things I have seen her in.

My guess for her leaving was probably due to the fact that abc wanted to transform Coop from a black version of Three's Company to a more family-friendly show and they moved the show to TGIF on Friday Nights after the show was on Tuesday Nights and it was a Top 20 Hit and it even got higher ratings than Family Matters and Coop and Fresh Prine were not only the 2 most watched Black Sitcoms during the 92/93 Season, it also got higher ratings than A Different World which was suffocating in the ratings thanks to the show being up against The Simpsons and then later moved back into its old time slot against Martin

Season 1 will ALWAYS be the best, but when the show moved to Friday Nights, the ratings went down and never recovered

another mess-up on the part of abc and Warner Bros. Television (which bought LORIMAR after the studio closed its doors in 1993) and plus due to abc's game of politics as the alphabet network was owned by Capital Cities at the time before Disney bought the network in 1996

That was A Different World last season so that wasnt a huge deal. I see they added raven stupid a$$ right after the cosby show ended that next season 93-94

I see it was a big gap between the last episode of season 4 and start of season 5. Last ep aired in May of 96 and season 5 didnt air until June of 97? What the hell was the point of that?
