"The Price is Right" is Leaving CBS' Television City Studio after 50 Years
"The Price is Right" is Losing its Iconic Home after 50 Years
by Michael Ausiello March 8, 2023 It’s the end of an era for "The Price is Right". After taping at Los Angeles’ famed Television City compound since its premiere in 1972, the classic CBS game show will relocate to a new facility next season. Per Deadline, a looming $1.25 billion renovation at Television City will force TPIR to move to Haven Studios in nearby-ish Glendale when it begins production on Season 52 later this summer. “In light of Hackman Capital Partners’ plans to undergo a major renovation at Television City, the time has come to move television’s longest running game show, The Price is Right, into a new home,” said Suzanne Lopez, COO of Fremantle (which produces TPIR), in a statement. “While we bid a fond farewell to this cultural landmark, we are excited to say that we will be moving into a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility at Haven Studios. We can’t wait to have our fans ‘Come On Down’ to this new facility when we begin production on the next season this summer.” https://tvline.com/2023/03/08/the-pr...levision-city/ |

In my eyes why The Price Is Right is really leaving CBS's Television City Studio is because of money and additional audience seating and so I think they offered The Price Is Right producers an option of raising their lease or moving out completely and they chose the second option which was moving out. I also think that with this new move to a new studio CBS hopes to gain more viewers of TPIR. As you may recall the same thing happened to Let's Make A Deal because when LMAD debuted in 2009 it was filmed at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas but later moved to Los Angeles to save money and Who Wants To Be Millionaire did the same thing by filming the last seasons in syndication in Las Vegas as well. But seeing that The Price Is Right is moving to a new studio for filming I wonder if Let's Make A Deal will be the next CBS game show to follow soon?

I think TPIR changed a long time ago. They might as well announce the prize a contestant has won when they call a name.
I haven't been watching for a long long time. |

Anyone know exactly where this "Haven Studios" facility in Glendale is located? Can't find any info on it whatsoever. The only major studio facility in Glendale I could find is East End Studios, and I don't know if that's the "Haven Studios" in question, or if that's a completely different facility. Because of this, why can't TPiR just relocate back to Television City after its renovation is finished?

Some reader comments have indicated that this is a move to save Freemantle $$$ and others indicate that the surrounding area of Television City is not very safe.

If they're going to spend over a billion dollars to renovate it, what are they going to do with after the renovation. Wikipedia only lists a handful of show that are currently produced there.
