I got a response from Columbia House Canada today via email. Here is what they said:

We appreciate your suggestion. It has been forwarded to the appropriate department for consideration. Thank you!
A contract must be negotiated with a distribution company before we can offer videos/dvds from them. Sometimes, we are unable to negotiate these contracts, therefore, we are unable to offer all movies currently on video/dvd.

There wasn't an email or contact link from what I could see on The American Columbia House homepage. If there was, I would have sent it there, too. But, if you or anyone else knows of a site of a American Columbia House page that has an email link either feel free to send the petition off yourself, or post a link of the site here. I did have the petition international, though and made that clear when I sent the petition to Columbia House Canada, so stay hopeful.

Which Columbia House are you referring to? Columbia House USA or Columbia House Canada? Because Columbia House Canada didn't seem to be out of the video/dvd business. They just needed to negotiate contracts before they can become able to offer them on video/dvd.

My problem with Columbia House is that while you have some TV series's appearing at Wal Mart for 40 bucks an entire season, you have Columbia House charging you 24 bucks for two episodes!

Yeah... but not all sitcoms offered by Columbia House are available in stores.

You're right. I believe most that are not offered by Columbia House are offered in stores and vice versa. It is for that very reason that C-H can ask for an unreasonable ammount of money for their collections.

I understand supply and demand, but this is ridiculous.

For a while I was thinking about joining Columbia House to get some of these shows. I've decided not to now that more and more shows are being released in season sets and that the sales are really booming. It's just a matter of patience and one day I'm sure we'll get to see shows like "Silver Spoons" and other 80's shows real soon I strongly suggest going to www.tvshowsondvd.com and help get the numbers for some of these shows up
