When I was listening to music I found an REM song called Bang And Blame that was the debut single from their 1995 album Monster and I want to know if it was their successful albums in the 90's? Was REM trying to gain a new sound with Monster or did they hope to gain a new audience with this album's release? It seems that of the two REM albums Out Of Time and Automatic For The People Monster is the most least talked about album of REM

Today my mom got to listen to REM's Monster album and she thought the songs were weird and she thought the album cover was also weird and Mom actually thought what was on the album cover was a cat and she thought it was funny too. Is that a real cat that REM got inspired to draw the Monster album cover?

I think their 1991 album 'Out Of Time' was considered to be their most successful album of the 90's with "Losing My Religion", but 'Monster' also hit #1 and sold very well. They were on a career roll back then. The album was a more consistent rock record (though they used the word "rock" in quotes).
The image on it is supposed to be a bear, but it looks like a cat. It seems like the band was trying to be ambiguous in all they were doing back then. They were trying to go for the "weird" angle. |

So the animal featured on REM's Monster album cover is actually a bear? When my mom saw the cover she thought it was really a cat. But my mom actually thought the album's songs had funny lyrics and she laughed at them

When I was listening to REM's Monster album I wondered what the song Bang And Blame is actually about? Does the guy's crush no longer wants to speak to him? Or did the guy have an argument with his crush? That song is really cool and has a good beat in it
