Lent just began yesterday, Ash Wednesday, for those who participate. I did Many yrs ago.

My radio people were listing the 3 top things Many are Giving Up for Lent.

Twitter-ing

Alcohol

Social Media

When does Lent 2023 start?

Lent begins on Wednesday February 22, 2023 — also known as Ash Wednesday. On Ash Wednesday, which is traditionally a somber holiday, a church's priest or pastor will dip their finger into a tray of ashes and spread them on congregants' foreheads in the shape of a cross. While doing this, they'll say, “from dust you came and from dust you will return.” The ashes are made by burning palm branches from the previous year's Palm Sunday (this year, Palm Sunday falls on April 2).

I have no use for alcohol or Twitter anyway. But there are some who could benefit from giving up alcohol permanently, too many lushes out there.

In the past, I used to give up anything sugary or alcohol (proud to say that I no longer drink). This year I am going to try to give up being unkind to people who have a different point of view than myself, and become more tolerant and open-minded.

I wish I had the willpower to give up posting on the internet (I confess I am too addicted).

I've not adhered to the "giving up" issue for many yrs...I no longer watch tv, no interest at all, so my computer is my enjoyment, but I turn it on later in the AM and usually shut it down 7:30 or 8 PM....

I don’t even know it’s Easter, the internet tells me it is. Or why people have dirty foreheads. Or Good Friday. All Fridays are good.
