This show came on in the late 80's i think before he passed away & it came on the CBS network. Della Reese played his wife on the show & Larenz Tate who played O-Dog in Menace II Society movie was his son. This show wasn't funny at all & it went off the air quick.

Actually It came on in the early 90's, and aired from September 1991-May 1992.

Here was the cast:

Mariann Aaida........Elizabeth
Redd Foxx..............Alfonso Royal (1991)
Sylver Gregory.......Kim
Jackee Harry..........Ruth "CoCo" Royal
Della Reese...........Victoria Royal
Naya Rivera...........Hilary
Larenz Tate...........Curtis

Redd Foxx was on for only one year (1991)

Jackee from 227 was on there? I don't remember that. What yr did Redd Foxx die?

Redd Foxx passed away on October 11, 1991.

He only did about a month of The Royal Family

How old was he when he passed away? Was he born in St Louis in real life? I know he had money problems before he passed away & he had problems with the IRS. He was deep in debt. Remember how he used to throw his bills away on Sanford & Son? He probably did the same thing in real life too which got him in trouble.

John Elroy Sanford was born in St. Louis on December 9, 1922. So he had to be 69 when he passed away. He suffered from a massive hard-attack.

Redd Fox actually died in Della Reese's arms during a taping of one of the episodes. It was rehersal and from what I've read Della held him, screamed for help and begged Redd not to die.
