I grabbed this off the web.
Roxie Roker was an administrator at NBC in New York City for many years before deciding to make a go of acting full time in 1969. Her first and only high-profile role was that of Helen Willis, on "The Jefferson's." As Helen Willis, Roker was half of television's first interracial couple. Interestingly, in real life Roxie Roker was married to a white man as well. Roker appeared in several guest spots including "A Different World" and "Hanging With Mr. Cooper" in addition to a few TV movies and the 1987 feature "Amazon Women on the Moon." Next to "the Jeffersons," Roxie Roker's most famous production was her son, rock star Lenny Kravitz. Sadly, Roxie Roker died of breast cancer in December of 1995. |
