Default Getting yet another 30 days kicked off of Facebook

I have been a member of this board for almost 13 years. I hope most of you like my posts although I admit they are a bit wordy. And a bit crazy and opinionated and a hater of certain words.

I am on Facebook. I like Facebook for many reasons. I get to follow cousins and family and get threads to news stories.

But one has to be very careful to what one posts there. Very careful. I usually get kicked off for a month for a month I am on there, I do something that is against their "community". I really do not mean to. But sometimes my "mouth" gets in the way and it is another thirty days in the hole. I am like the guy who cannot stay out of trouble. But its like there it is hazerdous to say anything. I live in a Communist country and it seems that Facebook is the same way.

I know better than to make alternate comments to social issues. I try to walk a fine line of what I can say and I might type something to post and think to myself, this might get me in trouble.

My current thirty day ban for "violence".

This was a news article about Russians invading USA airspace into Alaska and the Air Force intercepting them. My post (mostly, I dont remember exactly) in bravado....

"Just go and SHOOT some missles at them (not in the text but don't shoot them down, just to make them scurry home) They are cowards and they will go home!"

I got another thirty day ban for "promoting violence" I guess for saying "shoot". This is all done by "bots" and not by real people. So now, I am off the service and cannot use it (again) to communicate with anyone.

I will sort of applaud Facebook for another thirty day ban when I called Tonya Harding the figure skater who caused the injury to Nancy Kerrigan to say that Harding was "White Trash". Got flagged for racism.

One has to be very, very careful there. Has anyone else been kicked off for thirty days in the hole for stuff. I really do not say racist or otherwise. Just someone off the plane they do not like. Like I said, I try to be careful. I am not sure if I am there and reading about China. I cannot call Xi Jinpeng a bastard, or Joe Biden. Hard to say what the rules are.

But another thirty days in the hole for me, so more of me here (rotten vegetables thrown). Love you too!

You suspect the bannings are made by bots? That's interesting. I never really got iinto the wild and wooly side of Facebook debate. I played games there for several years, and just kinda wore out on it before the big political angle really gained momentum.....so I don't know one way or the other.....but if I suspected I had been banned by a bot, I'd be pretty unhappy.

My last boss before I retired, a claimed devout christian, retired marine, and staunch right winger about everything, used to spend hours per day trolling leftists on several Facebook pages. And it really tickled me that a man so devoted (on the surface) to being an upstanding citizen, was such a troll.

When people started talking about the possibility that elections might be swayed by discussion on Facebook,,.. I was like "NAHHHH, Really?" total disbelief that people can take probable garbage so seriously...

I'm wondering if you make public or private posts on Facebook. Of course private posts would be restricted to your friends list.

Public posts on Facebook can get one in trouble for more than one reason, as a friend of mine found out.

I have been kicked off FB once, years ago. They were not really specific as to why. I never agree to FB for anything they claim I have done. Once I started doing that and telling them to pound sand, I stopped getting kicked off.

I don't care enough about FB to worry if I get kicked off there. I barely post there anymore anyway.

I willingly abandoned Facebook well over a year ago and have never been back since. Don't miss it in the least. Most of my family & friends are on WhatsApp to group message or we group text.

I just hate on Facebook that I cannot freely say what I want, and that what I might say will "offend" someone and then goes the thirty day block.

If I ran a message board, I would have some pretty basic rules.

1. No threats of violence.
2. No promotion of illegal activities.
3. No pornography or promotion of same.

Other than that, it would be a very free message board.

The problem is that the Left are the ones who run these boards and the Left hates freedom of expression and having a free debate. They just target someone as "intolerant" a "hate mongerer" or a "racist". I was on another message board called IIDB (not to be confused with IMDB) which I was a "member" of for many years with no issues (it was a freewheeling board where one can express opinions, and the only rules were about the ones I posted above). The new board is full of extreme lefties who just love to hear the sound of their own voices. I would have alternate viewpoints, use humor and have fun with them, and would have the stupid moderators on my case about everyday. Finally I messaged that there is about as much freedom there as in East Germany, and was told that one could not criticize the moderators. That's authoritarianism.

I don't do "Twitter", (and my Hitler like hate of the non-term "tweet" is legendary) but it seems Elon Musk has made it much more of an open board than the commies who ran it before. The Left hates him which is a good thing.

I guess when another thirty days goes by, I will just stop posting. This again is authoritarianism. This is what the Left wants.

FB is not the only censorship forum...I never joined them and won't, but there are 100
s of forums out there, here, that censor what they please to. Some forums worse than others.

Yong Fang, yeah go on Twitter and help support free speech. I like playing candy valley, garden tales and words with friends but other than that it is pets, recipes and other assorted boring things

I deleted my Facebook account back in 2018 and never looked back. Best decision I ever made

Social media is a complete cesspool, and boring (IMO) to boot!

You should really start your own message board if you think it would be so easy with those basic rules. You would allow members to exchange personal insults and attacks? It might work for a very small community where everyone gets along. It would never work on a bigger message board with members with different views. It would be total chaos. People would leave in droves.

Admins and moderators are usually not paid positions. I can assure you my team wouldn't want any extreme criticism.

Twitter isn't as open and the free speech haven that Elon Musk wants you to believe. He did lift some suspensions, but some of those accounts were already suspended again. They will tighten things up again when the advertisers start leaving them.

But then what do you do if someone posts something "phobic", and in consequence all your gay followers threaten to boycott your sponsors? Or when somebody posts something "woke" and all your straight white males start their exodus?

The problem is money, so many will crawl through the sewer and cater to any whim to get a bigger slice for themselves. So, usually the TOS are a subset of rules designed to promote maximum participation by all
