When the chracters on the show see Jethrine, do they see what we see?

I talked about this a little in Chit/Chat how when a man dresses up as a woman on TV, all it takes is a wig and dress and BOOM everyone believes them to be a woman.

So...

If Max Baer/Jethro went out in real life dressed as Jethrine, I think everyone would instantly know that's a man dressed up as a woman.. BUT the characters on the show act as though they just see Jethrine as a normal woman, an extremely TALL woman, but no one ever questions her gender, or gives her any funny looks. So I'm wondering are the characters in the show seeing what we the audience see?
