Wondering if the first episode was black and white or colored.

The first two seasons were black and white.

^ That's correct, but the DVDs come either B&W or colorized. You decide!

I had to buy color. I never saw b&w in any of the stores by me and to buy b&w on ebay was outrageous.

Same here - the five seasons I have on DVD are all in color. I went out and bought them all the day they came out - Target didn't have B&W!!
