Some tidbits. She is still friends with Lisa, Kim, and Mindy. She was close to Nancy McKeon, but lost contact with through the years with no particular reason. Also it was the first time she ever talked about Molly Ringwald to any degree. Didn't know Molly til the Facts of Life. She also said that Molly's over the top character traits was based on her real life persona which could have been the result of working in the theatre prior. Perhaps like the fast talking and yelling her lines sometimes. She also said the character of Natalie was based on Mindy's real life personality

Yes, that was awesome she talked about Molly, and how the crew tried working with her on "making the back hear you" theater technique more toned down for TV, but then decided that would be part of her character. I think the fast talking was just a trait they made for her as I don't think theater would encourage that.
And she talked about Cindy!! About how Cindy was already a tomboy character so she wasn't sure why the show brought in a new tomboy character. Except that really, Cindy was more of a true "tomboy," boylike and sporty, while Jo was a tough streetwise kid didn't take guff from anybody. So there's a big difference there. But I loved the Cindy talk. |
