Default What are some of the best violent or heavy moments in Norman Lear shows?

I'm working on a montage and want to include the best. Diff'rent strokes and Facts of Life can be included

It strikes me (heh, heh) Walter slapped Maude, but I could be wrong.

SLAP!!!
And Ann slapped Alex. And Sam. Lots of slapping in Indianapolis.

And Walter and Maude slapped Florida right into her own spin-off.

I have two favorites:

When Julie lays down conditions for her to come back home after running away and Ann tells her to not come back.

When Michael is set upon by a teen gang in an alley and Florida picks up a baseball bat to defend him.

The near rape of Edith Bunker.

I have already said if I was the head of programming for CBS what I would do to Norman Lear that Monday if security and a good dose of valium didnt stop me. I have already made posts about this episode, you can look it up under my name.

Egad, how could I have forgotten "The Bicycle Man?" Part 2 is almost unwatchable. These are so disturbing Conrad Bain had to give a warning before the episodes.

There is also an episode where Arnold and Kimberly are kidnapped, or close. Then there is a bank robbery in another episode.

It's been awhile since I've seen this show.

The Edith attempted rape episode nearly ruined the series for me. From an audience perspective, it was so wrong to do that to such an innocent and joyful character.

Probably no coincidence that after the Lear wave of unpleasant and disruptive shows the next popularity cycle was upbeat escapist Garry Marshall shows (Happy Days, Laverne, Mork, etc.).
