For example, At This Moment by Billy Vera and The Beaters. Came out in 1981, peaked at #79 on Billboard charts. About 5 years later got used on Family Ties, boom, eventually goes to number one.

The only song that comes to my mind at the moment is "I'm A Survivor" from Reba McEntire. It was used as the theme song for her TV show, and it went as far as #3 on country radio.

I'll add this one with technicality: "Don't Stop Believin" by Journey was already successful, but it's use on The Sopranos in 2007 made it even more so.

Happy Days (first 2 seasons) helped revive interest in Bill Haley's Rock Around The Clock.
More recently, Stranger Things put Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill back on the charts after 37 years. |
