I often wondered when the TV movies of Eight Is Enough were made did it mean that the series was gonna return with a new storyline? Because it seems to me that Eight Is Enough could've continued another year rather than end in 1981. Eight Is Enough is one of those shows that almost never is seen in reruns anymore since PAX TV aired in the 90's. And now with the death of Adam Rich Eight Is Enough should become more popular now. Were these TV movies made to keep the show going?

I assume it was like most other cancellations. Short sighted network execs cancel when there was still meat left on the bone. By the time they realize their mistake, it's too late to resume the series, so they cash in on nostalgia by doing TV reunion movie(s).
As far as Adam Rich, I doubt enough people remember or in the case of folks under 40 even know who he is that it is gonna have any current impact on the series. |
