I remember when Tickle Me Elmo became the hot toy of Christmas and my mom and I were in Kmart when I saw this Elmo and I pressed it's hand and I saw that it shook and laughed and I thought to myself "what on earth is this?" because it looked like Elmo had a very creepy annoying laugh and why on earth was Elmo shaking like he was freezing cold and needed a blanket to get warm?. The next week after we saw Tickle Me Elmo we learned that it was a hot toy for Christmas of 1997 and every store was sold out of them. But I don't understand why Tickle Me Elmo became popular because I found it creepy with that laugh? But based on that success Tickle Me Big Bird Ernie and Cookie Monster were later added to join Tickle Me Elmo. But starting with Tickle Me Elmo this began a trend of Sesame Street toys becoming hot toys every holiday season every year
