Did Fox have the worst sitcom record in 1991 and 1992?

While Fox had hits with Married With Children and The Simpsons and Martin and Living Single in 1991/1992 it also seemed that Fox also had the worst sitcom record in 1991/1992 by having sitcoms that were destined to be hits and showed promise but then after one or two episodes the sitcom would be cancelled and I think Fox should've promoted the new 90's sitcoms a lot more. Take for example when Fox launched Top Of The Heap/Vinnie And Bobby in 1991 Fox had a lot of high hopes for it because it was created by the same creators as Married With Children and despite being a hit was cancelled. And I think the main reason Top Of The Heap was cancelled was because of the name change to Vinnie And Bobby and the storyline changes but it had one good thing as Matt LeBlanc was featured in the show. Another show that was promising for Fox was the sitcom Pauly which starred Pauly Shore and I think it was cancelled because also due to lack of promotion and if Fox would've given Pauly the right promotion it would've survived. I think in the 90's around 1991/1992 Fox was trying to compete with NBC and CBS and they knew that adding more sitcoms along with Married With Children and The Simpsons would make them number one in the 90's but when you compare the 1991-1992 Fox sitcoms to Fox sitcoms today you'll see that Fox was sitcom king in the 90's but I think Fox wanted to attract more viewers by adding more sitcoms that appealed to everyone and so they tried to expand their sitcom lineup to give people more to watch besides The Simpsons and Married With Children

I dont know about now, but FOX is notorious for cancelling shows quickly if the show did not immeidately pull in good numbers. FOX did this at a much faster rate than the other three major networks. The network probably should have given some shows more time to develop, but especially in the early 1990's it was a new network and didnt have the luxury of doing that.

Back to You, a sitcom with Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton, is another example of Fox cancelling a show too soon, but a writers strike also affected it. Had that show been on CBS, it probably would have had multiple seasons.

I think why sitcoms like Martin Living Single Married With Children survived in the 90's was because I think Fox was thinking that these were the new image of sitcoms for the 90's and with The Simpsons in it's second season in 1991 proved that Fox was on a roll and hoped that new sitcoms could prove the same thing. Another Fox sitcom that showed promise but was cancelled after it's one season was Parker Lewis Can't Lose and when promotion for Parker Lewis Can't Lose began Fox knew that this show could do well but despite being funny it was cancelled also but Corky Nemec became a successful actor in his breakthrough role in the show. And the same formula was applied to Drexell's Class because all though it was funny Drexell's Class suffered the same fate and got cancelled too. I think when you look at Fox in 1991/1992 they were obsessed with sitcoms but compared to Fox today Fox is now obsessed with hit drama shows and crime dramas and focuses less on sitcoms and besides American Dad The Simpsons and Family Guy Fox needs to go back to creating good sitcoms like they used to
