Well, Over the past decade, MTV has been leading the cable industry in trying to coming out with the latest crap that you may never think possible. Here are some of the animated shows that MTV churned out of thier heads... huh, huh, huh, I said "head!" ( note: this list excludes Beavis and Butt-Head because of the fact that this is about the other animation produced by MTV) 1991 - 1993 Liquid Television (24 episodes?) - Mtv's first foray into cartoon mortality. Originally created to showcase animated bits produced by (Colossal Pictures) in San Fransico. The show turned to other aspects of animation ranging from student-produced or budget-made crazies like Beavis and Butt-Head and Crazy Dazie Ed, to independent award-winning animation like Paul Drissien's "The Killing of an Egg" to Yashiaki Kawajiri's "The Running Man." A videotape was produced featuring some of the bits from this series under Sony Music Entertainment. 1994 The Brothers Grunt (13 episodes?) - Mtv's answer to Beavis and Butt-Head. Originally produced as a 10 second ID by Danny Attonucci, a great canadian animator form Vancouver's International Rocketship Limited. This bidt plunged him to form his own studio oddly named "a.k.a. Cartoons," MTV gave him the OK to produced 13 or so episodes ot this sick and twisted cartoon that was too much like a Beavis and Butt-head clone to begin with. It concerns the search of a lost "Chosen One" Perry, who flee the monistary of white pale, boxer shorts/wing-tip wearing, freakish society that has it's own religion, facts of life, and bizzare natives. In order to find Perry, the great Poo Bah sent out five of his friends to find him, they are Bing, Dean Sammy, ehh,,, I forget the other two. The show was quite amusing, but it had music videos running through it. It is not available on video, so look out in the black market like I do. Dec 1994-Mar 1995 The Head (13 episodes)- Based on a short by Eric Fogel, this story was about a guy named Jim who one day finds his head big like a cone and containing a alien inside who helps him to save the world, help his boring life, and such. Part of the MTV show "MTV's Oddities" This video is available on video in feature-legth form. In 1996 there were 13 more episodes that were produced for featuring differnt adventures, these are not on videoleagally. April 1995 The Maxx (13 episodes) - Originally based on the comic book of the same name by a non-mtv artist, this animated version revolves around the life and complexitites of a blue super hero who dosen't know why he exist in both worlds and other weird complicated stuff. The animated version has been criticized for not conforming to the comic book itself since the book hasn't ended itself at the time. This show is available on video. Summer 1995 Aeon Flux (10 episodes) - Originally produced as shorts for Liquid Television by Peter Chung, this series delts with the romance, suspence, drama, and the perils of Aeon, a agent from the struggling nation of Monica. She tries to get her job done without being caught in the hands of Tevor Goodchild, the leader of the opposing nation I forgot the name. Most of the episodes are hard to understand the first time, and many seem to break the continutity of the series. Numerous videos are available of this show. I hope this is enough information you can handle, I figure that you already know about "Daria." Let's see if anyone can top this list? http://forums.comicbookresources.com...threadid=22748 |
