For me it was Donald Eugene Webb's wife successfully hiding him out until he died, and then burying him in the backyard.
Also, the fact that Patricia Carlton was found alive after 30+ years of being missing seemed like a highly unlikely outcome. |

The text update about Stephen Marfeo shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend 9 years after Doreen Marfeo's disappearance was not something I was expecting.

The Wendy Camp update for me. I think we all suspected the Noe's were involved, but the sheer brutality of killing a mom, teen and a child shocked me.

Dennis DePue stands out for me, especially when the update originally aired. That was crazy.

I had seen that case so many times in repeats over the years and then I found UM on Pluto and was binging episodes and that one popped up and when the update flashed I about swooned. That was always a great part about UM - watching the repeats over the years, seeing the same cases over and over and then that little moment at the end when they cut to an Update. |

I agree with being in total shock over Patricia Carlton being found. She disappeared in 1971 and was found alive and healthy in 2005. I don’t remember anything but a text update about this on Lifetime. You would think her being found would have gotten publicity. This is the kind of story you could read about in People Mahazine. I’m assuming the family requested some type of privacy or something. |

For a minute, I was confusing her case with that other lady who was found alive after many decades. She was clearly far from mentally stable. They featured her in the update. She had worked as a cleaning lady (I'm guessing under the table) since disappearing. Lorene Roberts, I believe. |

Update WHILE the show was airing: Definitely the Stephen Marfeo update. That was bananas.
Update while the show was NOT airing: The capture of the ONS/EAR/Golden State Killer. I DID NOT EVER expect that one to be cracked. |

Ok.. as usual, you folks will have to help me out on which case this was.. i think there were TWO of them with basically the same outcome..
DNA was recovered from the scene of the crime.. and eventually matched up to a suspect.. and the suspect had been found dead in a swamp/lake/creek/something a few years after the original crime? I didn't think Dennis Depue was overly shocking.. Maybe the whole part about him living with the woman and he had the show on in the background.. But.. How else did anyone expect that to end? I never particularly saw him being taken alive. |

It was just mentioned in another thread so it's fresh on my memory now, but the Christophe Day update was definitely the most shocking for me when I was watching the show on Lifetime in 2003.
another update that stands out is the Sammy Wheeler case. that entire segment is crazy with the 3 suspects accusing one another and then it turns out to be a random act of violence. I've just read up more on it and apparently the killer recently got out on parole. |

absolutely, I think the amount of detail and vivid witness accounts that were given in that update really set it apart. leaves me wishing that all the updates could be that good. the Jim Burnside update was similar for me with the shootout with police and the amount of details that were given. it was also satisfying knowing that he was put away and could not hurt anymore women.

The Kari Lynn Nixon update where she was murdered the night she disappeared and the woman in South Carolina? was mistaken. Pretty much makes me question any eyewitness from now on...

Ohhhhhh! That’s a good one. I remember the first time I read that text update on Lifetime. I went from shock to immediate anger and wanting to throw my TV remote across the room. But then I got suspicious because I wouldn’t put it past Betty to lie to Bill about Christophe dying. To this day, I’m hesitant to take Betty at her word.

Cindy Wisemiller.
The woman who stole money from the armored car company she worked for. Her family members seemed honestly puzzled by the whole thing but it turned out they were lying and knew exactly what happened and exactly where she was. |
