Sad Is Frasier (the character) becoming unlikeable?

First of all I'd just like to say I'm a new member, so hi everyone!

It's a pity my first message has to be a bit negative (they won't all be!), but as a major fan of the show I am having a bit of a crisis. Frasier himself is developing into an increasingly flawed character, but still always ends of getting what he wants instead of what he deserves. Confused? I'll give an example:

In the series 9 hallowene episode, he spent most of it acting like a spoilt brat over his game and displayed extreme jealously towards Niles, and by the end it was Niles who was made to look bad, and Frasier's satisfaction at this was made clear. Martin even told him, "you're a good son, Frasier". I don't understand this.

It appears that Frasier is frequently rewarded for his bad points. Another would be the way he sees and treats women. He usually prefers models, is often sleazy in his attitude, and yet gets innumerable amounts of women aggreeing to date him. (Yes, he is often dumped by the end of the episode, but surely this only makes it more possible for a completely new, even prettier girl to come along the next week).

I know the show is called 'Frasier', and I know that there is nothing wrong with a character having flaws, but should he really be rewarded for them every time? He used to be so likeable, even loveable, but now seems to spend mush of every show shouting at everyone, and yet it is always he who receives apologies.

Any thoughts, or am I totally out of line here?

Frasier: What are you talking about?

Martin: And if you and Lilith got back together, you'd be his step-father AND his brother, and Niles would be your son... and his own uncle!

It's almost worth doing just so that I can tell the story!

First of all, welcome aboard. I agree that they have made Frasier Crane more grumpy lately. I still wouldn't say that he's unlikeable because the character when originated on Cheers, was never meant to be likeable. He just is. It's hard to explain, but why would anybody like a rich, pompous, spoiled brat? But we do. I think they need to tweak his character in the upcoming season. He needs to be made more vulnerable.

Yea I think Frasier has gotten a little more self-centered and pompous during these Frasier episodes. I enjoyed him more in Cheers but still think hes funny in Frasier.

Obviously I do not dislike the character of Dr. Frasier Crane! I'm just a bit concerned that he is reaching the point when most sitcom characters would be getting their comeuppence, and yet he often walks free. I agree that he has all but lost the vulnerability that made him loveable in earlier episodes, which made me want him to succeed. Now, I'm just getting irritated by him at times.

Hello FrasierFan. I think that Frasier has become Extremely Annoying Myself. Frasier drove me Crazy when he was dating Amy Brennaman and that Blond Woman and he would go up and back over who he wanted to be with. Also, Frasier was Perfect with Claire, but he just had to be with Jean Smart. Jody

How can y'all hate him? I mean not HATE but find him annoying?? I couldn't. I love him *his personality and his looks*. I could never think he was annoying.

I would have to agree that he became rather disagreable at times, but it always came back to his sweet and good hearted nature. Did anyone see the episode where he wouldn't leave the carpark? There is a good example. Anyway, what does everyone else think?

At the time I started this thread I think that the character was really going through a bad patch.

IMO, Frasier Crane started to get rather annoying in Season 8, more so in Season 9 and 10, but improved vastly in Season 11 to such as extent that all was forgiven.

Hearing him shout and act like a child all the time was really getting on my wick, especially when we were supposed to be on his side.

But you're right, Frasier'sHairyMan, about his sweet and good hearted nature, which almost always saved him at the end of an episode.
